The essays featured in this collection are composed by descendants of once-enslaved Pennsylvanians—"registered people” in the parlance of A Just and True Return (JTR). The following contributors have generously shared their family histories and personal stories so that users of this website can glimpse some of the lives lived beyond the boundaries of the slave registrations.
